Intent

At St Stephen’s, our aim is to provide a broad, balanced, relevant and continuous History curriculum to all its pupils, within a safe and caring atmosphere. We aim to nurture children's unique talents and interests, across all subject areas, including the foundation subjects, while developing respectful and free-thinking individuals. We strive to provide high-quality history lessons that will inspire children to want to know more about the past and to think and act as historians.

We follow the National Curriculum programmes of study and base lessons around this, linking learning to a range of topics. Children have opportunities to investigate and interpret the past, understand chronology, build an overview of our local past, Britain’s past and that of the wider world, and to be able to communicate historically.
