Impact

Through formative assessment within each lesson and across the unit as a whole, we can identify the impact of our geography curriculum by based on the children’s ability to:

• Talk confidently about the topics they have studied in the geography lessons, using general and unit-specific geographical vocabulary accurately.
• Demonstrate a sound understanding of the area in which they live based on a range of geographical criteria.
• Show an understanding of a range of different geographical regions across the world, explaining their features and making comparisons with their local area.
• Understand and explain the relevance of geography within other subject areas taught across the school.

We at St. Stephen’s also aim to use our teaching of geography to consolidate and improve children’s reading and written skills, with the standard of children’s work matching that of the core subjects.
