Impact

Through the quality first teaching, learning and assessment of French at St. Stephen’s, we aim to have the following impact on our pupils:

·  They will develop their language and communication through development of the four key skills (speaking, listening, reading and writing).

·  They will enrich their language learning by developing an understanding of the French culture, making connections between what they have learned and their own lived experience of British culture.

·  They will transition to high school language teaching confidently, successfully and well-prepared to continue and develop their language skills.

·  They will develop an understanding that other languages have their own structure, with similarities and differences to the structure of the English language. They will be able to make connections between the vocabulary and grammatical rules of French and English, and apply this to the linguistic features of other languages they may study in high school.
