Week 3
Thursday 23rd April 2020
Happy St. George's Day Year 3! Today we celebrate the patron saint of England- Saint George. Here is an information page about Saint George: https://www.bbc.co.uk/newsround/17816642 You could have a go at drawing your own Happy St. George's Day banner or card.
Please check the message from Mrs Townend yesterday. She has a really good activity for you to try. Draw a picture of yourself as a superhero and explain what your special superpower would be. I think that's a really fun activity and I think I might have a go myself today or tomorrow and share my picture with you on Monday.
Below I have attached a Home Learning update from Miss Mitchell. It is really important that your grown up reads this, as it has lots of really important information.
Happy learning and keep smiling,

Hello Year 3! It's another beautiful day outside! I hope you are all managing to get out for your daily walk/exercise. I have been doing lots of running during this time and have managed to run 10km a few times- my poor legs are a bit sore! I have added a 'Spring Hunt Checklist' to our page today and thought you might take this on your walk today. If you see any of the things on the list give it a tick. Can you find all of them? If you don't have a printer at home then copy out the list onto a little piece of paper so you can join in.
I have slightly changed the TTRS schedule. This week the only tables you will be asked questions on is your 2, 3, 5 and 10 times tables. I just want to see how fabulous you are at those before adding in a few more. I hope you are enjoying re-reading your favourite book like we mentioned yesterday.
As Mrs Townend mentioned in her post yesterday please remember to send your learning photos to photos@st-stephens-pri.lancs.sch.uk and check the school Facebook page for the 'Guess the Staff Member Quiz'.
Happy learning!

Tuesday 21st April 2020
Good morning Year 3! I hope you all had a great day yesterday and are ready for some more learning today. I have been doing some learning at home too, getting ready to teach you lots of new things when we get back to school. I've also started to reread all the Harry Potter books before I go to sleep. Which one is your favourite Harry Potter book or film? I think my favourite book is definitely 'The Goblet of Fire'. Why don't you choose one of your favourite books at home and reread it? Sometimes we discover new things that we didn't find the first time we read them.
To help you with your TTRS I have uploaded a nice 3 times table game you can print out and play with your family. If you don't have any dice then chop up a piece of paper into 6 pieces, write the numbers 1-6 on them and then turn them over blank side up. When it's your turn choose a piece of paper with your eyes closed to see how many spaces you can move. I hope you and your grown up have lots of fun playing it.
I don't think I'm going to have a very peaceful day as a man has just come to fix my roof- we have a leak! I can already hear lots of banging going on! I hope your day is more peaceful than mine.
Happy learning and big smiles!

SUMMER TERM
Monday 20th April 2020
Hello Year 3 and welcome to Summer Term! As you know due to the lockdown we won't be back in our classroom for at least another 3 weeks. However, like I mentioned in my message yesterday, we have lots of exciting home learning ahead. I hope that you are also managing to have lots of fun too and spending some quality time with your family.
I will attach the home learning for this week below. It is really important that you keep up with our basics: reading, writing (including handwriting), spelling and times tables. I will be having a look at how you are getting on with TTRS each week- so keep practicing! On the home learning sheet you will see a link to Oxford Owl. This is a great FREE tool that your family can help you sign up for. It will let you access free reading books! Mrs Townend has told me how much you all love reading so this is a great way to read some new and exciting books. There are lots of other interesting learning ideas on there too! https://www.oxfordowl.co.uk/
Happy learning!
